About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help ensure pupils can access the curriculum while building confidence independence and positive learning behaviours.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
Assisting the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
Supporting pupils with social emotional and behavioural development
Implementing strategies from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
Encouraging independence and confidence in learning
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Supporting classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting
Demonstrate patience empathy and strong interpersonal skills
Be confident supporting pupils with needs such as autism ADHD or speech and language difficulties
Be proactive adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications or experience in education childcare or youth support would be beneficial but are not essential.
