Role: Electrical Design Engineer Industrial
Location: Austin TX
Duration: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with construction facilities operations and maintenance teams throughout the electrical design process with a focus on reliability maintainability and operability.
- Develop comprehensive construction design deliverables including:
- Electrical one-line and three-line diagrams
- 5kV and 480V motor starter/VFD schematics and wiring diagrams
- Electrical busway design
- Cable schedules and cable tray routing
- Site and equipment grounding
- Lightning protection systems
- Lighting design
- Duct bank layouts
- Interpret and implement NFPA-70 (NEC) standards for low and medium-voltage power system design and installation covering:
- Overcurrent protection
- Motor protection
- Cable tray and conduit sizing
- Cable sizing derating and voltage drop calculations
- Fire water pump systems
- Classified areas
- Grounding and bonding
- Manage EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) firms through all phases of design development execution and handover.
- Address RFIs (Requests for Information) and resolve design changes during construction.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and construction team to ensure proper design sequencing while managing multiple design scopes at once.
- Develop and maintain site standards for electrical design practices and installations adhering to industry codes.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: At least 5-10 years of industrial design experience in refining chemical or manufacturing.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial and facilities electric infrastructure design particularly at 5kV and 480V levels.
- Extensive familiarity with electrical maintenance codes and safe work practices including:
- NFPA 70 (NEC)
- NFPA 70E
- IEEE 1584
- NFPA 497
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD drafting softwares.
- Strong ability to multi-task self direct prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication skills to convey information concisely to management and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines.
- Eagerness to share knowledge and mentor younger engineers.
- Extreme ownership of design scopes and assigned tasks.
- Strong work ethic and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
