Join Stroke Aotearoa as a Community Stroke Navigator (Kaiārahi) for the North Auckland area and play a vital role in advancing our mission to prevent stroke and improve lives. This role is about working alongside communities-building relationshipsidentifyingneed and supporting people to better understand and manage their stroke risk.
You will work closely with people affected by stroke as well as community groups healthprovidersand other key stakeholders to strengthen community resilience and wellbeing. Through your adviceguidanceand support you will help connect people to the right information and resources amplify local capability and maximise the impact of Stroke Aotearoas mahi across the region.

About You
This position will suit someone with experience working in the health community rehabilitation or disability sectors. You are anindependentself-starter who can communicatewith empathyand engage effectively across all age groups and stakeholders.Your experience working with vulnerableand diversecommunities willhelp maximisethe reach and impact ofStroke Aotearoascommitment toequitablehealth outcomes for all New Zealanders.You will bea confidentfacilitator /presenter /networkerandwill havewell-developed time management and organisational skills.
Preferred applicants will:
- be resourceful self-motivated andcommitted to making a differenceforNew Zealanders
- havesome knowledge of the effects of stroke and strategies forday-to-day management (additionaltraining provided)
- understand our responsibilities to TeTiritio Waitangi to supportequitablehealth outcomes in the community
- haveexcellent oral andwritten communicationstillsand confidentlyfacilitatetraining and education in the community
- have a tertiary qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience
- be competent usingtheMicrosoft Suiteof products(specifically MSWordTEAMSand PowerPoint)andinformation technology in general
- be able towork independently as well as part of a wider team
- be able totravel regionally with some nights away from home.
This role is 30hours per week.Candidates will need to be able to work from home and remotely.You must have a full clean drivers licence and be currently eligible to work within New Zealand.
