ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (COMMVAULT)

• Having an experience on Deploying Commvault components such as CommServe Media Agents and Client Agents across the environment.

• Configuring schedule policies that define backup types (full incremental differential). • Creating storage policies that specify cloud storage tape libraries and disk libraries for backup and recovery operations.

• Configuring de-duplication and compression settings to optimize storage usage and backup performance.

• Creating and managing backup schedules to ensure all critical data is backed up regularly with minimal disruption

• Performing DB Maintenance during periods of low CommServe activity to minimize the effect on data protection operations.

• Monitoring the status of backup jobs to ensure successful completion identifying and resolving any failed or incomplete jobs.

• Performing periodic backup validation to ensure that backup data is intact and recoverable in the event of a disaster.

• Managing the entire backup life-cycle including initiating monitoring and completing backup tasks across the environment (Physical servers Virtual machines databases etc.).

• Performing restores of data or entire systems in response to data loss corruption or disasters.

• Performing file-level restores or application-specific restores (e.g. Microsoft Exchange SQLOracle) as per user requirement.

• Continuously monitoring backup jobs to ensure they are successfully completed without issues.

• Configuring alerts for backup job failures warning signs or errors.

• Creating regular reports on backup performance job success/failure storage usage and system health for management and compliance purposes.

• Maintaining detailed logs of backup activities for auditing and troubleshooting purposes.

• Monitoring storage capacity to ensure there is enough space for backups and makes recommendations for additional resources if necessary.

• Configuring and managing role-based access controls (RBAC) to ensure only authorized personnel can access or manage backup data and systems.

• Regularly monitoring the health of Commvault components (CommServe Media Agents and Clients) to ensure proper functioning.

• Investigating and resolving issues related to backup failures slow performance or network connectivity.

• Addressing issues with storage devices network configurations or the Commvault software itself to ensure reliable backup operations.

• Fine-tuning backup schedules storage policies and performance settings to improve backup speed and efficiency

• Ensuring optimal use of storage resources by configuring deduplication and compression.

• Monitoring and manage network bandwidth usage to ensure that backup operations do not interfere with other critical network activities.

• Using Commvault's automation features to automate routine backup tasks such as job scheduling alerts and reporting.

• Keeping the Commvault environment up to date by applying software patches and updates to address bugs improve performance or introduce new features.

• Planning and executing upgrades of Commvault components such as CommServe Media Agents and storage systems while ensuring minimal disruption to backup operations.

• Working closely with Windows LinuxMSSQL Oracle Network Storage and Virtualization teams to ensure that backup configurations integrate seamlessly with the overall IT infrastructure.

• Providing support to users or other departments when they need assistance with restoring files troubleshooting backup issues.

• Creating SOP’s and sharing knowledge with colleagues and KT for new joiners

• Keeping detailed records of backup configurations policies and procedures and also Documenting troubleshooting steps and resolutions for common issues.

• Working with Commvault support to resolve complex issues related to backups storage devices or network configurations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (VEEAM)

• Having experience on deploying Veeam Backup & Replication components including Veeam Backup Server Backup Proxies Repositories and Backup Enterprise Manager across the environment.

• Configuring backup jobs & backup copy jobs for virtual machines (VMs) physical servers applications (SQL Exchange Oracle Databases) with the Help of App aware processing technology and cloud environments (public and private clouds).

• Configuring backup jobs & backup copy jobs based on backup type (full forever forward incremental forward incremental reverse incremental).

• Configuring and managing backup repositories for storing backup data.

• Performing restores of data or entire virtual machines in the event of a failure disaster or data loss.

• Restoring individual files application data VMDK level Guest files and Folders and Instant VM recovery.

• Designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies to ensure the organization can quickly recover in case of data loss.

• Doing periodic recovery tests to validate that backups can be restored successfully and meet recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).

• Monitoring the status of backup and replication jobs to ensure they complete successfully and within acceptable time frames.

• Configuring alerts for failed backup jobs missed schedules or issues with backup infrastructure such as repository or proxy failures.

• Creating regular reports on backup job success failures system health storage usage and performance for management and auditing purposes.

• Monitoring backup storage usage and plan for additional capacity as needed to accommodate growing data volumes.

• Implementing and managing role-based access to the Veeam environment ensuring that only authorized personnel can access backup configurations and restore operations.

• Having experience of configuring the Veeam backup components like WAN accelerator Gateway server Mount servers.

• Configuring backup retention policies to ensure that data is retained for the required duration and deleted according to organizational guidelines.

• Regularly monitoring the health of Veeam components (Backup Servers Proxies and Repositories) to ensure optimal performance.

• Keeping the Veeam software up to date by applying patches updates and new releases to address security vulnerabilities and enhance functionality.

• Ensuring the backup infrastructure is configured to maximize performance including optimizing backup proxy settings repository storage and network bandwidth utilization. • Resolving issues related to backup failures slow performance or network connectivity issues.

• Addressing any issues related to backup repositories including storage capacity issues repository configuration errors or disk failures.

• Analyzing logs events and error messages from Veeam and related systems to identify and resolving issues that could affect backup jobs.

• Adjusting backup job configurations schedules and settings to improve backup performance and reduce backup windows.

• Implementing de-duplication and compression to reduce storage usage and optimize backup processes.

• Managing network bandwidth utilization to ensure that backup operations do not interfere with other critical business operations.

• Ensuring that backup jobs are balanced across available backup proxies and repositories to optimize resource usage and preventing bottlenecks.

• Ensuring that backups stored in the cloud can be quickly restored in the event of a disaster or data loss.

• Documenting backup configurations policies schedules and recovery procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.

• Maintaining records of backup failures troubleshooting steps and resolution actions to create a knowledge base for future reference.

• Working with other IT teams such as Windows Linux MSSQL Oracle Networking Storage and system administrators to ensure that backup configurations align with the overall IT infrastructure.

• Providing an assistance to end-users and other teams in restoring files or data and troubleshooting issues related to Veeam backups.

• Providing training to other team members or users on Veeam backup and restore procedures as well as best practices.

• Working with Veeam support to resolve complex issues or implement new features.

• Ensuring that Veeam integrates smoothly with other enterprise tools and systems such as monitoring and ticketing tools

• Upgrading the license's capacity whenever its usage exceeds its maximum.

• Experience on configuring and managing Scale out Backup repositories (SOBR).

• Performing the Ad-Hoc backups before server decommissioning or patching. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Storage)

• Experience in storage into Commvault hyperscale X

• Experience in data domains dell moduler disk storage and netapp grid storage

• Administered and maintained enterprise SAN/NAS storage systems.

• Performed storage provisioning Zoning and LUN masking for physical and virtual environments.

• Configured and managed Raid levels snapshots deduplication replication and thin provisioning .

• Managed data migration between storage platforms with minimal down timing using looks like snap mirror Storage Vmotion or robocopy.
