The Team

This role is essential in driving business growth by actively pursuing new client opportunities maintaining customer relationships and ensuring exceptional service in the scrap metal industry.

Work Environment

This is a full-time Monday to Friday position out of our office in Edmonton AB

A Day in The Life

This position will be the channel for evaluating physical and financial trading and asset enhancement opportunities both via organic and inorganic sources. This position is responsible for all aspects of executing physical this role the buyer will be responsible for contract execution of physical trades as per contractually agreed terms in a safe and cost-effective way.

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and target new businesses to expand the companys client base and increase market share.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to secure new business opportunities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with a designated book of accounts ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct visits to customers to assess and quote on scrap metal materials providing timely and competitive pricing.
  • Accurately determine pricing for materials received from active accounts balancing profitability with market competitiveness.
  • Manage asset allocation including selecting appropriate bin sizes for customer sites to ensure effective service and optimal bin turnover.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all internal customers including all metal recycling yards
  • Work closely with sales marketing and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Regularly verify and update contact information for active accounts to enhance communication and service delivery.

Skills Experience & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • Proven experience in customer service or outside sales preferably in the scrap metal or recycling industry.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills to effectively engage with clients
  • Ability to analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategies.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to meet clients and explore new markets.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook Power Point). High Proficiency in programming functionality would be considered an asset
  • Detail oriented with the ability to do research and understand economic drivers
  • Strong ability to build working relationships and contacts within the organization as well as with external regulators vendors and contractors
  • A positive self-motivated and energetic team player attitude with a willingness to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while sharing experiences and knowledge with others and contributing to team goals
  • Ability to travel in all weather and road conditions to various locations and conducting on-site visits.
