Job Summary
Job Purpose and Impact
The Plant Operator will provide operational support for all production operating facilities with moderate presence in multiple regions or moderate degree of this role you will support and adhere to operating standards for safety quality and operational effectiveness.
Key Accountabilities
- Adherence to Cargills Environment Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Completing required safety documents and permits
- Lead all aspects of overall grainflow operation.
- Develop and implement the operation plan by reporting and problem solving.
- Mentor new employee and evaluate farm operation performance.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Doing overtime to cover absent employees
- Recording of plant operating parameters
- Routine testing of safety devices
- Machine maintenance and adjustment
- Operation of Front End Loader and Forklift
- Weighing and documentation of vehicle movements
- Inspection of incoming trucks for cleanliness
- Sampling and moisture testing of incoming seed trucks
- Issuing of sample containers for all out-going loads
- Answering incoming telephone calls outside of normal office hours
- Signing in visitors outside of office hours and ensuring visitors and drivers have the appropriate safety equipment
- Housekeeping of weighbridge and surrounding areas
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Experience in high level on plant and equipment operational skill
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to colleagues
- Ability to accept new or changing work demands
Excellent communication skills are essential as the appointee will interact with drivers visitors and plant staff. Computer skills and past weighbridge operation experience would be an advantage. The applicant must be willing to work shifts during the harvest periods
The successful candidate must of good nature and able to follow direction and work as part of a team. Good problem-solving skills literacy and numeracy are essential.
A trade or previous process operating experience would be an advantage. Applicants should be comfortable with computers.
