Position Title: SET Student Ambassador

Department: The Office of Student Experience and Transformation (SET) University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP)

Position Type: Part-Time (Academic year 8 to 10 hours per week)

Reports To: SET Office Manager

Position Summary:

SET Student Ambassador is a student leadership position responsible for serving as peer guides support and representatives of SET. The SET Student Ambassador will support the offices mission by engaging in programs that help with the development and engagement of first year and continuing undergraduate addition the SET Student Ambassador will help students foster a sense of belonging and connection to UWSP.

Compensation: $14 per hour

Hours: 10-15 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as SET and Designated Center Representative: Support and represent at key recruitment and engagement events such as Preview Day Admitted Students Day Orientation and High School/Group Visits by assisting with presentations and event coordination.

  • Program and Office Support: Facilitate group discussions workshops or activities related to student success. Assist with first-year experience events orientation and campus programming. Encourage student engagement and a sense of belonging within the campus community.

  • Other Expectations: Represent SET and UWSP in a manner that exemplifies genuine respect and professionalism. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in mentoring relationships. Participate in ongoing training and professional development sessions. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current undergraduate student at least half-time at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in good academic standing.

  • Must be Sophomore standing or higher.

  • Strong written interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Familiar with UWSP Campus (i.e. Academic resources residential life campus activities)

  • Ability to address sensitive concerns of students in a professional tactful and confidential manner

  • Ability to work independently manage time effectively and maintain professionalism.

  • Ability to foster an open friendly and engaging environment that supports and respects the diverse needs of students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a mentor tutor or related leadership position.

  • Experience facilitating group discussions or presentations.

  • Experience planning events

  • Experience with social media to aid in promoting the department and its events
