Position Type: Seasonal PRN
Target Candidate: Current nursing students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing and are seeking seasonal work while enrolled in school.
Position Summary
We are seeking motivated current nursing students who have successfully completed their Fundamentals of Nursing coursework and are looking for seasonal PRN experience while continuing their education.
Under the supervision of an RN or LPN the Nurse Technician helps provide individualized and compassionate patient care. This role supports the healthcare team through clinical tasks and essential patientcare activities that contribute to overall wellness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide daily hygiene and routine care
- Assist with ambulation turning/positioning and mobility needs
- Support dietary needs and monitor skin integrity
- Record patient data and vitals in the EMR
- Prepare charts for admissions discharges and transfers
- Perform pointofcare testing or specimen collection (if applicable)
- Observe and report patient condition changes promptly
- Assist with admissions transfers and discharges
- Use good timemanagement and clinical judgment
- Complete clerical duties such as answering phones and call lights
Advanced Skills (After Competency Validation)
May include:
- Blood cultures
- Enteral tube feeding
- Phlebotomy
- Staple/suture removal
- Sterile technique
- Trach care & suctioning
- Wound care (sterile & nonsterile)
- IV removal
- Specimen collection
- Chest tube setup
- Pelvic exam setup
- Burn dressing care/debridement
- Ostomy care
- Wound vac canister changes
and more based on validated competency.
Skills Performed With a Nurse Present
- NG tube insertion/management/removal
- Urinary catheter insertion
- Fecal management system insertion
- ETT suction
- Enemas & disimpaction
- Peripheral IV insertion
- Additional delegated skills
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Must provide transcripts verifying completion of Fundamentals of Nursing
- Must provide a skills competency list from the nursing program
- Must remain in good standing with nursing school
- Students no longer enrolled in a nursing program are not eligible
Certification:
- BLS required within one month of hire
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push pull or lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing & walking throughout the shift
- Ability to grip reach bend kneel twist and squat
