We are seeking a Senior Lab Technician in Discovery/Tech Futures to perform a variety of day-to-day activities in a genomics laboratory. You will be part of the Genomics Discovery Team that drives biomarker research utilizing advanced molecular techniques. Your role will be critical in supporting the ongoing analysis of novel genomic markers.
Perform nucleic acid extraction and QC using multiple methods
Perform molecular testing across multiple platforms that require a strong level of technical ability
Maintains and communicates schedules and changes in schedules
Manages lab inventory procures supplies and stocks shelves
Responsible for general lab maintenance and overall cleanliness of lab and lab equipment
Supports and maintains various processes systems and databases
Performs record keeping data collection and analysis
Receives and aliquots biological samples as well as maintains sample tracking database for discovery work
High School degree with 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
Understands best laboratory practices including sterile techniques applicable to a molecular lab setting.
Must have laboratory skills including proper pipetting techniques direct experience with PCR and keen attention for detail.
Must be reliable attendance is an essential function of the position
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules standard operating procedures (SOPs) material safety data sheets (MSDSs) operating and maintenance instructions government rules and technical procedures
Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Strong initiative and follow through
Ability to work independently and as a team contributor
Good computer skills: Microsoft Office and SAP preferred
Hourly rate: $26.00/hr
