The Virginia Department of Social Services is excited to share that we are looking for a Director of Compliance to help lead and join our team!
The Director of Compliance reports to the Deputy Commissioner of Policy and Administration and serves as a key member of the Leadership Team helping advance agency objectives established by the Commissioner Deputy Commissioner and Executive Team. This role plays a critical part in leading and strengthening the agencys compliance program.
This senior leadership position is responsible and accountable for directing agency-wide compliance and risk mitigation efforts to ensure adherence to state and federal legal and regulatory requirements. The Director oversees core functions including administrative hearings quality control subrecipient monitoring fraud prevention and detection and information security compliance.
The Director works collaboratively with divisions across VDSS to promote a culture of compliance ethical conduct and accountability in alignment with the agencys mission vision strategic goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of compliance enterprise risk management internal controls and information security practices in large complex regulated environments.
Demonstrated skill in analyzing complex regulations and operational data preparing clear and comprehensive reports and presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership policymakers and external stakeholders.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal state and local laws and regulations pertaining to human services. These programs often involve multiple stakeholders diverse objectives competing priorities and substantial resources.
Leading Change - the ability to bring about strategic change both within and outside the organization to meet organizational goals. Inherent to this leadership competency is the ability to establish a direction for the division and to implement it in a continuously changing environment.
Leading People - the ability to lead people toward meeting the organizations vision mission and goals. Additional Considerations
Experience with compliance operations in a large human services agency.
Knowledge of human services programs policies and regulations.
Experience overseeing or managing administrative hearings appeals processes adjudication functions or similar legal or regulatory review operations.
Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or other relevant compliance audit or risk credentials.
Experience with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) compliance.
Experience with information security compliance privacy regulations or enterprise risk management programs.
