Bachelor of Social Work Internship

School-Based Behavioral Health Internship: Toledo OH

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for ourStudent Treatment Advocacy Resources (STAR) team for the Fall 2026 semester in our Northwest region. As an intern on the STAR team you will get hands on experience working with youth and families. You will also have the opportunity to observe other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight to the communities and clients we serve. This position works closely with youth families foster parents and community partners.

This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work program from an accredited College or University.

Your Internship Experience May Include:

  • Providing appropriate individual group and family mental health services case management transportation and other professional services meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
  • Traveling as needed to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Completing all required training in a timely manner.
  • Learning diagnostic assessments and treatment plans.
  • Assessing and engaging with youth.
  • Observing interventions for youth.
  • Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community for mental health medical educational psychological vocational and social services.
  • Regularly reviews and modifies youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youths primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youths case plan.
  • Interacting with caregivers parents foster parents school staff office staff and other mental health professionals.
  • Actively participates in the weekly supervision process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled ina Bachelor of Social Workprogram from an accredited College or University.
    • An internship or field placement must be a requirement by the institution.
    • Upon the completion of the internship the individual would receive credit towards their pursued degree.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smart phones and tablets as well as software including word processing spreadsheet and database programs.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid drivers license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100000/$300000 bodily injury liability
