The Role

The Advanced Manufacturing Technician provides primary technical support for Gear Center machining operations while also supporting gear inspection metrology and electric motor prototype builds. This role requires strong multidiscipline capability across machining inspection electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting.

You will set up and run precision manufacturing equipment validate part quality through inspection systems support prototype motor builds and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on tooling fixturing and process improvements.

What Youll Do

Gear Center Primary Responsibilities

  • Interpret work orders engineering drawings blueprints GD&T and machining parameters to define machining plans.
  • Program set up and operate CNC mills/lathes and gearmanufacturing equipment (hobbing honing grinding).
  • Install and adjust chucks tools fixtures attachments and workholding; perform machine setup verification and firstpiece validation.
  • Monitor machining operations diagnose malfunctions adjust programs and replace tooling as needed to maintain accuracy and surface finish requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance basic troubleshooting and escalate mechanical/electrical issues as required.
  • Manage inprocess material flow stock levels and tooling inventory to support prototype schedules.

Inspection Secondary Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret part prints gear charts spline data GD&T and specification sheets.
  • Program and operate gearinspection systems (Gleason Klingelnberg) and interpret inspection charts for corrective action.
  • Program and operate CMM equipment for gears shafts bearings housings and drivetrain components.
  • Perform surfacefinish inspection and opensetup (surface plate) measurement on precision features.
  • Generate inspection reports for prototype/lowvolume builds and disposition nonconforming parts per GMS requirements.
  • Support rootcause investigations by performing data analysis and recommending inspection methods.

EMotor AsNeeded Support Responsibilities

  • Support prototype and preproduction electric motor builds per build schedules.
  • Assist with defect analysis repair and rework activities.
  • Operate Emotor lab equipment: presses welders wireforming equipment balancing systems ovens induction heaters surge/hipot testers and electromechanical test equipment.
  • Operate general machineshop equipment for fixture modifications tooling fabrication and process development support.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical testing per authorized procedures.

Safety Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow all plant safety standards complete required corporate training and support a safe working environment.
  • Document machining inspection and build activities in production/quality logs.
  • Communicate open items and shift handoffs to maintain crossshift continuity.
  • Participate in continuousimprovement problemsolving and standardization activities.
  • Maintain technical proficiency through training and technical literature.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 7 years of combined experience in machining inspection or prototype manufacturing environments.
  • Strong machining capability including programming and operation of CNC mills lathes and/or gearmanufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings GD&T and precision machining specifications.
  • Proficiency with CMM programming/operation gearinspection systems and surfacefinish measurement tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining metrology electromechanical systems and relevant math principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting capability for moderately complex machining inspection and prototype issues.
  • Proficiency in computerbased reporting and documentation (MS Office data entry inspection reporting).
  • Ability to work weekends overtime and offshifts as needed.
  • Ability to support multiple operational areas based on business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prototype or preproduction manufacturing experience.
  • Gearmanufacturing and gearinspection experience (hobbing grinding inspection systems charts).
  • Electric motor or electromechanical assembly/testing experience.
  • Experience supporting crossfunctional operations (machining inspection assembly).
  • Familiarity with GMS BuiltInQuality methodologies or similar structured quality systems.
