Data Scientist Job Description Job Summary
The Medicaid Data Scientist will work with the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) data business and IT teams to develop advanced reports and perform analysis of healthcare data using standardized analytical methods and modern reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to develop reporting solutions and recommend data reporting/analysis tools.

Build scalable organization-wide dashboards and reports.

Analyze Medicaid claims and clinical data to identify patterns trends and insights using advanced analytics tools.
-
Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to develop and document reports for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other entities.
-
Identify gaps in current reporting and analytics solutions and recommend improvements.
-
Review reports produced by external entities to ensure accuracy sound methodology and alignment with DOM expectations.
-
Support data literacy initiatives by educating users on available DOM data and its use cases.
-
Participate in agency projects and provide analytics expertise.
-
Evaluate project opportunities risks and impacts on other areas.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Experience
-
7 years experience as a Data Scientist in IT projects.
-
3 years working with Medicaid programs developing data strategy and improving data quality.
-
3 years experience building reports using tools such as:
-
3 years working with technical and non-technical data users.
-
3 years experience presenting and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-
3 years experience managing workloads and meeting deadlines in IT projects.

Selected contractor must sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with DOM.
