About The Role

We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of analysers
  • Pre and post analytical specimen handling
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
  • Assisting Scientists in the Labas required
  • Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
  • Responding to result sample requirements and general queries
  • Identifying and resolving problems on at the pre-analytic stage
  • General laboratory maintenance including ordering and receipting of stores storage and retrieval of specimens
  • Additionally this role includes supporting the courier responsibilities of pick-up and delivery of Pathology Samples Specimens Blood/Blood Products X-rays Vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers as needed

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to have a great blend of skills including:

  • Exceptional attention-to-detail and accuracy
  • Specimen processing and data entry experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
  • Having an appreciation for quality and confidentiality
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • Previous laboratory experience would be desirable but not essential
  • Certification in Laboratory Techniques is desirable but not essential
  • Physical capability to be able to handle equipment weighing regularly from 10kg -15kg
