ob Description:

Participates in the design of detail parts assemblies and installations for aircraft structures mission equipment installations and mechanical systems installations. Engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design. Engineer will be responsible for research development of layouts preparation of engineering drawings and coordination of design activities with Tooling Flight Sciences Manufacturing and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs will be accomplished using world-class three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing guidance coaching and training to other employees.
  • Oversee the design of detail parts assemblies and installations for aircraft structures mission equipment installations and mechanical systems installations.
  • Ensure proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost scope and schedule.
  • Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process/procedures and program requirements.
  • Provides input into new products processes standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business results.
  • Ensure program airworthiness customer and company requirements are understood and met.
  • Capable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced demanding with a focus on problem resolution and process improvement.
  • Capable of influencing a wide range of audience and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI security clearance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or similar with 9 years of related experience or Masters Degree with 7 years of related experience In lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 6 months experience running total lifecycle of programs including proposals bids planning assessing/managing risk and execution.
  • Minimum 5 years aircraft design related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems.
  • Understanding of various mission systems.
  • Influential leader with good emotional intelligence and ability to coach and develop.
  • Interpersonal skills: Engaging communicator strong collaboration patience and open minded.
  • Task Lead or Product Lead experience especially on large prototype programs.
  • Outstanding communication (both verbally and written) negotiation collaboration time management presentation and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military aircraft airworthiness design approach certification process and requirements.
  • Knowledge of manpower planning milestone scheduling and related financial management.
  • Formulate strategic vision define implementation plan of action to achieve success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Project.
