3 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Caretaker role is to maintain clean safe and well-managed housing estates by carrying out cleaning basic maintenance and estate monitoring duties. The caretaker supports residents by responding to issues reporting problems and ensuring communal areas are kept in good condition. The role also involves working with estate services staff to provide a high-quality service to residents.
Key Responsibilities
Clean communal areas such as stairways corridors lifts and entrances.
Sweep outdoor areas and remove litter from estates.
Remove bulky waste and dumped items to designated collection points.
Control weeds and maintain grass and shrub areas.
Remove offensive graffiti within agreed timescales.
Carry out minor repairs in communal areas in line with health and safety guidelines.
Report maintenance issues and damage to the relevant departments.
Respond to emergencies such as fire flood burglary or lift breakdown.
Contact emergency services where necessary.
Complete daily reports and management documentation.
Record and report tenant complaints.
Report abandoned vehicles and illegal parking.
Report breaches of tenancy rules.
Maintain positive relationships with tenants.
Provide advice and assistance to residents particularly elderly and vulnerable individuals.
Report safeguarding concerns about vulnerable residents.
Maintain lighting in communal areas.
Keep and manage keys for communal areas and empty properties.
Take responsibility for tools equipment and estate stores.
Liaise with refuse collectors and other service providers.
Requirements
Ability to carry out cleaning duties independently or as part of a team.
Good communication skills to interact with residents.
Ability to handle complaints and resolve minor issues.
Ability to respond to emergency situations.
Ability to write short reports about incidents or problems.
Ability to perform physically demanding work.
Able to lift and move heavy equipment and waste bins.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
