What role you will play in our team

Imperial is recruiting for Process Technical Engineer in Training at Strathcona Refinery located in Edmonton. Working under the guidance of staff Chemical Engineers you will gain an understanding of petrochemical refining processes process safety controls and process unit optimization. The role will be to support safe reliable and profitable operation of process units.

What you will do

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including operations reliability and automation engineers to supportsafe and reliable unit operation
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify develop and implement operational and facility improvementswith focus on safety reliability economics and sustainability
  • Effectively communicate status of unit operation improvement opportunities and operating costs to various stakeholders
  • Participate in risk assessments root cause investigations corporate networks and communities of practice
  • Own unit mass balance to support energy and cost reporting as well as annual long term plan development

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelors Masters or Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
  • A valid drivers license is a requirement
  • 5-10 years manufacturing experience required

  • Commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
  • Highly motivated enthusiastic results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results
