The Opportunity

Were seeking an experienced Shotfirer to join the Thiess Drill & Blast Crew at our Olive Downs Complex in the Bowen Basin located 40 kilometres southeast of Moranbah. The Olive Downs Complex began mining operations in mid2023 and Thiess is delivering a fiveyear fullservice mining contract that includes mine planning overburden removal drill and blast autonomous load and haul water management rehabilitation and mine infrastructure development.

About The Role

Working a 7/7 dayshift roster with occasional nightshift requirements (paid at the applicable nightshift rate) and reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor your responsibilities will include:

• Magazine management and on-site transport of explosives
• Managing the loading tying and firing of blasts following blast designs
• Daily reconciliation and reporting of explosives usage
• Assist with training and mentoring of blast crew members
• Identifying communicating and management of hazards within the work area

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• A Valid QLD Shotfirer Licence and Drivers Licence
• Current Standard 11
• Experience using electronic initiation systems
• Demonstrated compliance with safety and a good knowledge of explosive regulations
• Operational experience in Mobile Processing Units is preferred
• Ability to operate a loader bobcat and stemming truck is desirable
