Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining metal fabrication equipment used in the manufacturing of structural steel components. This position is ideal for experienced machine operators CNC operators CNC machinists and machinists who have experience working with steel fabrication or manufacturing machinery. The role supports production operations by operating fabrication equipment and ensuring that parts meet required quality and dimensional specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate steel fabrication machinery including plasma burn tables plasma cutters saws drills and other manufacturing equipment.

  • Set up and operate CNC machines and manual machines as a CNC operator or CNC machinist including press brakes saws and plasma cutting equipment.

  • Load raw materials into machines and ensure proper alignment prior to cutting or machining operations.

  • Monitor machining and cutting processes to ensure parts meet required manufacturing specifications.

  • Inspect finished components for quality and accuracy using precision measuring tools such as calipers gauges and measuring devices.

  • Interpret blueprints technical drawings and work orders to produce parts according to specifications.

  • Perform basic machine setup tooling adjustments and minor troubleshooting as required.

  • Support CNC machinist machinist and machine operator production operations by ensuring machines are properly configured and materials are ready for manufacturing.

  • Assist with material movement and staging using equipment such as forklifts when required; experience working as a forklift operator in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment is a plus.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance cleaning and minor repairs to ensure reliable operation.

  • Record production output material usage and machine performance for manufacturing documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with other machine operators CNC operators CNC machinists machinists and forklift operators to meet daily and weekly production targets.

  • Follow all workplace safety procedures OSHA standards and company manufacturing policies.

  • Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Report accidents unsafe conditions or mechanical issues immediately to supervisors.

  • Participate in required safety training and manufacturing process improvement programs.

  • Maintain quality standards by monitoring work output and ensuring finished parts meet specifications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2 years of experience as a machine operator CNC operator CNC machinist machinist or manufacturing technician in a metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Candidates with prior experience working as a machine operator CNC machinist machinist or CNC operator in a manufacturing facility are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience operating CNC machines metal fabrication equipment or machining tools.

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes machining techniques and fabrication equipment.

  • Ability to read blueprints technical drawings and work orders.

  • Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers gauges and micrometers.

  • Experience with CNC machine adjustments or basic programming is a plus.

  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as a forklift is a plus.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to manufacturing quality standards.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.

  • Ability to read write and understand basic English and/or Spanish to follow work instructions and safety guidelines.

  • Strong reliability communication skills and work ethic.

This position may be a good fit for candidates who have previously worked as a machine operator CNC operator CNC machinist machinist or forklift operator in steel fabrication manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand walk bend stoop kneel crouch and climb for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift push and pull objects weighing up to e.g. 50 pounds regularly.

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g. varying temperatures noise levels potential for dust/debris wet floors).

  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.

Work Schedule:

  • Full Time: Monday-Friday 1st Shift (6:00am - 2:00pm) 2nd Shift (2:00pm - 10:00pm)

  • Depending on production needs some weekends may be required.
