The Workday HRIS Support Specialist provides day-to-day operational and functional support for our Workday HCM platform. This role partners closely with the Global Workday Administrator based in the United States and serves as the first point of contact for routine Workday inquiries issue resolution testing support and documentation. The Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining system stability data accuracy and a positive end-user experience by managing tickets performing first-tier troubleshooting supporting testing and releases and maintaining clear HRIS documentation. Over time and based on experience and business needs this role may expand to include limited configuration support and serve as backup coverage for the Global Workday Administrator.
This position is based in India and requires consistent availability during overlapping business hours with the U.S. team
Responsibilities:
Workday Support & Operations
- Serve as one of the primary points of contact for Workday-related questions issues and requests.
- Triage troubleshoot and resolve standard Workday functional issues of low to moderate complexity.
- Research issues and recommend solutions or workarounds; escalate complex or high-risk items to the Global Workday Administrator.
- Monitor ticket queues to ensure timely responses follow-up and resolution.
- Identify recurring issues or trends and recommend system or process improvements.
Testing & Release Support
- Perform functional and regression testing for system updates enhancements and biannual Workday releases.
- Execute test scripts document results and track defects through resolution.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) in partnership with HR and business stakeholders.
- Assist with release impact reviews and validation of new or changed functionality.
Configuration Support
- Support basic to intermediate Workday configuration activities under established HRIS governance and administrator guidance including:
- Business process framework updates
- Notifications and condition rules
- Security role assignments and access maintenance
- Calculated fields and eligibility rules
- Prepare configuration changes for review approval and deployment.
- Support tenant maintenance and data validation activities.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Create and maintain HRIS documentation including:
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Job aids and how-to guides
- Configuration documentation
- Release notes and summaries
- Contribute to knowledge base content to enable self-service and reduce repeat inquiries.
- Ensure documentation supports audit compliance and change management requirements.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with the Global Workday Administrator to support operational needs and system enhancements.
- Assist with audits compliance activities and data integrity checks.
- Support HRIS reporting analysis and ad hoc system support as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HRIS processes tools and user experience.
Requirements:
- 23 years of experience supporting Workday HCM in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of Workday business processes security roles and access controls and worker lifecycle events (hire job change termination)
- Experience supporting one or more Workday modules (e.g. Core HCM Absence Time Tracking Compensation Reporting).
- Experience with HRIS ticketing systems testing processes and documentation best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills including the ability to collaborate across time zones.
- Ability to work consistently during U.S. business hours (9:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. EST) Monday through Friday.
- Exposure to Workday biannual release cycles is a plus.
- Workday Pro certification (completed or in progress) is a plus.
- Experience working in a SOX audit or compliance-driven environment is a plus.
