Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced proactive and solutions-focusedPrincipal Counselto join the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) to the Senior Director Counsel of the sector this role operates as a legal specialist and business partner in providing strategic proactive and practical legal counsel and guidance to sector management and staff on general and specialized legal matters.
Essential Functions:
- Partners with leaders to assess predict and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating internationally
- Advises counsels and functions as a trusted business partner on legal and other matters related to the business objectives of the sector
- Provides legal guidance and counseling on risk mitigation strategies contract interpretation and provisions dispute resolution and other legal issues
- Negotiates researches drafts revises and / or analyzes agreements contracts memoranda legal correspondence and other legal documents
- Engages in factual investigation analyzes complex legal and factual issues conducts extensive legal research independently develops recommends and presents strategies on a wide range of legal matters
- Ensures that sector practices and procedures comply with global federal state and local laws and regulations and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures
- Engages with customer counterparts as reasonably required in support of addressing certain complex legal / business transactional matters
- Collaborates with operational subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by the business are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers
- Monitors reviews and resolves day-to day legal and regulatory issues as they are assigned
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws regulations and trends
Qualifications:
- Doctorate (JD) degree
- Active state license to practice law
- Active DOD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Government contracts experience within the US DoD market is highly preferred including both U.S. and international government and commercial customers
- Experience in aircraft purchasing
- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Personal commitment to ethics and compliance and experience working in an environment with high ethical standards
