With a full-service 58000 square-foot Emergency Department we are one of the largest and busiest in California. We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand our pediatric specialty services. The hospital serves 2.5 million people within 9 counties averaging a daily census of 641 patients. Were affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility and have trained 3000 Medical Doctors to date plus we continue to invest in research and training grants.

Responsibilities

The Team Leader of Pharmacy Compounding is responsible for leading a team of Pharmacy Technicians to support medication compounding services. Provides support with medication compounding and repackaging assuring procedures and proper documentation is followed in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Trains and leads staff with compounding procedures and techniques. Assists with creating and maintaining sterile and non-sterile compounding competencies for technicians. Assists in ensuring and enforcing technicians adhere to all applicable policies and procedures providing timely performance feedback to leadership to act upon. Accountable for developing work schedules and providing open shift coverage. Functions as a mentor and provides training and guidance. Assists with maintaining and storing all regulatory and department records according to the Board of Pharmacy State and Federal regulations. Initiates and participates in meetings projects and optimization of procedures. The Team Leader is expected to assist with filling in and performing the duties of a Pharmacy Technician and to provide support in executing fundamental duties associated with other team leader roles within the department.
Accountabilities
1. Coordinates and optimizes pharmacy compounding workflows and activities to ensure timely and accurate services.
2. Prepares Pharmacy Technician work schedules assists in providing open shift coverage and reports time and attendance information to leadership to act upon accordingly.
3. Enforces proper work flow and provides training coaching and re-education for staff related to all pharmacy technician job duties and assignments including sterile non-sterile and hazardous compounding.
4. Promotes a collaborative and a cooperative work environment improving inter- and intra-departmental relationships by utilizing communication interpersonal relationships and team building.
5. Resolves issues within scope and participates in finding creative solutions to problems.
6. Assists in ensuring that all applicable policies and procedures are followed.
7. Provides timely work performance feedback to leadership to evaluate and act upon accordingly.
8. Creates and maintains sterile and/or non-sterile compounding competencies for personnel including media fill and fingertip validations math exams cleaning competencies and any other required documents according to regulations and policies.
9. Assists Pharmacy leadership in ensuring that drug compounding and repackaging records are maintained and properly stored.
10. In conjunction with the Pharmacy Tech Supervisor leads and participates in team huddles and various meetings.
11. Provides Pharmacy Technician orientation and training in conjunction with the Supervisor.
12. Facilitates and improves communication among other service area members outside the Department of Pharmacy.
13. In the event of need performs essential accountabilities described for the Pharmacy Technician (40761) position and provides support and assistance with executing fundamental duties of other Team Leader roles.
14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
Experience
2 years of experience in a pharmacy healthcare setting required
Experience in the inpatient pharmacy setting with the ability to work with interdepartmental teams preferred
Experience working with sterile compounding preferred
Licenses and Certifications
RXTECH - State of California Pharmacy Technician License required
CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred
