Description of Service Opportunity:
The ESL teacher will teach English Learners in grades 5-8 in the English Learner (EL) Middle School Summer Program. The teacher will instruct students using the ESL Summer Curriculum and the WIDA Standard for ELLs. Lessons will be planned using appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology.
*Work: 25 hours per week

- Teacher Certification in ESL
- The teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs English language learning and Sheltered Immersion methodology. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues demonstrate high expectations for English language learners be effective in working with immigrant families and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in teaching ELLs in grades 5-12
Experience: At least 2 years of experience teaching ESL to linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.
Languages: Proficiency in English and fluency in a language other than English is preferred but not required.
Length of Contract:
July 1 2026 to August 5 2026
Contract Amount
Not exceed $5500.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
