SUMMARY:

Reports to and works under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Services. Responsible for providing technical support system administration data reporting and training for a wide range of District computer systems with a strong focus on Student Information Systems and Ministry reporting requirements. Ensures the accuracy integrity and security of student data while supporting end users across schools and departments.

DUTIES:

1. Manage and maintain the Student Information Systems (MyEducation BC and CIMS) to ensure data accuracy integrity and completeness. Perform routine audits and error checks maintain user account security and oversee account creation and password management for staff students parents. Monitor and support system operations including production processes and reporting functions and perform minor preventative maintenance on related hardware as required. Ensure compliance with district policies and data security and privacy protocols.

2. Provide support to School Based and District Staff including Teachers Clerical Staff Principals Vice Principals and Counsellors for the Student Information Systems (MyEducation BC and CIMS).

3. Provide training to School Based and District Staff including Clerical Staff Principals and Vice Principals for the Student Information Systems (MyEducation BC and CIMS).

4. Provide technical and end-user support to School Based District Staff related to application and network access workstation functionality report generation printer operations and the use of application software. Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues through a variety of support channels including telephone email online communication platforms remote desktop tools and on-site assistance as required.

5. Responsible for the exchange of student information between Student Information Systems (MyEducation BC) and the Ministry of Education including submissions such as 1701 TRAX SADE and PEN. Monitor data integrity track issues or discrepancies and implement timely resolutions to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.

6. Develop analyze and maintain reports data extracts and visualizations in response to requests from Senior Management District Departments and School Administrators. Utilize a variety of reporting and programming tools including MyEducation BC Query Sequel ViewPoint Query 400 and Crystal Report Writer to support operational administrative and Ministry of Education requirements.

7. Develop timely and accurate procedures to support system operations. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including procedure guides run sheets and user manuals. Maintain a centralized library of system-related reference materials to support consistency and knowledge sharing across the organization.

8. Provide both formal (classroom or lab-based) and informal (telephone or remote desktop) training to users to support effective use of district systems and applications. Tailor training approaches to the needs of School Based and District Staff.

9. Communicate system related announcements including upgrades outages and potential security threats to staff across the District.

10. Support archival and backup systems including verifying and maintaining the BloodHound program for Human Resources in coordination with Information Technology ensuring the integrity of former employee records. Maintain and manage CIMS system backups including scheduling and replacing backup tapes as required.

11. Remain current with changing technology practices and equipment.

12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Completion of a recognized 1 year post secondary Computer Technology diploma program including courses in computer operating systems database management technical report writing and programming or an equivalent level of formal training.

2. Minimum of 2 years of recent related and relevant experience working in a technical support troubleshooting and educational data systems environment. Experience in computer management including file management operating systems Microsoft Office 365 browsers antivirus programs and report management tools.

3. Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills with the ability to support users at all levels and provide training with patience and clarity.

4. Demonstrated ability to read interpret and modify complex technical documentation Ministry of Education guidelines and Student Information System manuals in accordance with District policies and procedures.

5. Proven ability to work independently manage priorities under pressure and adapt to changing school year cycle and deadlines.

6. Proficiency with a variety of office and IT equipment as well as remote support tools.

7. Physically capable of performing job functions such as extended computer use and the occasional lifting and moving of equipment.

8. Knowledge of and adherence to WCB and WHMIS regulations along with safe ergonomic practices in a technology intensive environment.

9. Working knowledge of FIPPA privacy legislation and data security standards applicable in an educational setting.
