TITLE: Specialist Native American Programs
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Develop coordinate and implement the Native American Programs.
Tempe Elementary Schools Native American Program (NAP) utilizes two federally funded programs Title VI and Johnson-OMalley (JOM) Programs focused on raising students academic achievement and to meet the specialized and unique educational and culturally-related academic needs of students.
NAP specialist will support Native American parents and the Native American Parent Committee members to provide input into the planning development implementation and evaluation of the NAP Programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Elementary Teacher certification
- Arizona Supervisory certificate or Principal certificate
- Experience in Title VII/JOM program supervision and compliance procedures
- Minimum three (3) or more years of successful classroom experience at the K-8 level
- Experience working with parent involvement (preferred)
- Training experience in multicultural education

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage coordinate and implement the JOM and Title VII Programs and Grants.
- Monitor and evaluate student assessment and progress to ensure program effectiveness.
- Coordinate the entry and exit of Native American Students and Families at school sites.
- Provide professional development to teachers and administrators in the area of Cultural Proficiency.
- Ensure that all appropriate JOM and Title VII documentation is entered into the Student Management System.
- Aid school staff with the placement of Native Students into Native American Programs.
- Provide to the Executive Director of Instructional Excellence recommendations for program improvements.
- Train implement and monitor the Native American Programs to meet state and federal compliance requirements.
- Integrate and implement multicultural education into the curriculum.
- Complete program reports and audit information as required by the district Arizona State Board of Education and U.S. Department of Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
