OVERVIEW
School for International Training (SIT) seeks a Visiting Faculty member to join an interdisciplinary team of faculty and staff leading IHPs Comparative Public Health program. Each semester term enrolls approximately 10-25 students from leading U.S. colleges and universities to engage in comparative interdisciplinary exploration of public health and well-being across three European countries. The Visiting Faculty travels with students to each location for the full duration of the semester. Please note that the following itinerary reflects tentative future semesters but itineraries are contingent on conditions in each country and program needs: Lisbon Amsterdam and Athens. Students spend five weeks in each location. They enroll in four classes (4 credits each) which are taught from different country perspectives throughout the semester.
For compliance with local labor and employment laws and when circumstance warrants the Visiting Faculty will have a local employment contract through an affiliated local entity or as determined by SIT.
IHP EUROPE COMPARATIVE PUBLIC HEALTH: PERSPECTIVES PRACTICES & POLICIES
IHP Europe Comparative Public Health is a multi-country program that provides a comparative interdisciplinary exploration of public health and well-being across three European countries grounded in the overarching goals of the European Health Union and the EU4Health program. Students will engage deeply with core topics in epidemiology infectious disease surveillance and response and determinants of health. The curriculum is designed around inquiry-based learning blending academic coursework with experiential opportunities such as field research simulations and visits to healthcare agencies NGOs and public health institutions. IHPs learning model is grounded in critical inquiry and analysis but attempts to bring those skills to bear on particular places and themes. It also helps students learn how to interact with a variety of local actors representing different perspectives practices and policies around public health in Europe.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Visiting Faculty member will collaborate closely with the Associate Dean of IHP Europe and local SIT staff/partners to ensure a comprehensive and seamless learning experience for students.
- Assist in the design and delivery of the program with SIT staff local partners and collaborating faculty
- Teach Project Health: Community Engagement and Ethical Inquiry and one of the following courses depending on area of expertise:
- Comparative Epidemiology: Disease Data and Trends
- Determinants of Health
- Infectious Disease Prevention and Management
- Facilitate student learning through briefings debriefings and processing of non-lecture program
- Meet with program faculty and SIT staff as
- Provide timely feedback on
- Embrace the use of Canvas (LMS) for student learning and assessment for all SIT
- Participate in all program and class activities including guest speakers site visits and other non-lecture
- Work with the Provosts Office Assistant Dean and in-country staff to ensure that any academic administrative or student affairs issues associated with the program are resolved.
- Take appropriate measures to protect the health and safety of students in partnership with SIT Student Health Safety and Wellbeing office and local staff.
- In collaboration with in-country support staff ensure that all students travelling on the official group flights/transportation are checked-in and through immigration.
- Serve as a resource person in collaboration with in-country student services team for any student issues and
- Collect all receipts for all program expenses incurred and complete expense reports in a timely manner according to World Learning financial policies and guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS
Required Experience/Education:
- Terminal degree (PhD or equivalent; All But Dissertation considered) in public health global health health sciences anthropology (health focus) sociology or other field relevant to the program theme.
- Experience teaching at the college level and a strong commitment to experiential and inclusive learning including non-didactic methods that promote critical thinking and field-based research discussion and self-reflection.
- Experience living and working in Europe ideally in at least one of the program countries listed above (preferred).
- Qualitative quantitative or mixed methods research experience in a health-related
- Advanced study scholarship professional experience and/or advocacy work adjacent to the program
- Must already be authorized to work in the EU
- Fluency in English and a European Language (preferred).

- Ability and availability to travel and facilitate the students experience in different program
- Must be able to meet the physical emotional maturity and mental health demands as well as possess the personal qualities - patience adaptability collegiality cross-cultural competence and organization - needed to be part of an intensive team-oriented study abroad program that covers four countries in one semester.
- The ability and desire to support and communicate with students throughout the study abroad experience both in and outside of the classroom.
Vaccination is strongly recommended for all employees in our U.S. offices except for those receiving medical or religious exemptions. If boosters are subsequently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then employees and faculty will be recommended to receive the booster within thirty (30) days of their eligibility.
