Job Description

The Construction Materials Testing Manager is responsible for leading daily field and laboratory operations and supporting estimating and project management. This role ensures efficient staffing high-quality deliverables accurate cost estimating and disciplined project execution. The CMT Manager contributes significantly to the teams overall success through strong project oversight and operational consistency. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for an experienced CMT professional who can manage both people and projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates; develop scopes of work; review bid documents; and support approved proposals and RFP responses.

  • Manage projects from kickoff through closeout including budgets schedules labor production rates change orders and billing coordination.

  • Lead project meetings and maintain responsive communication with clients contractors municipalities and stakeholders.

  • Oversee scheduling workload balance utilization and efficiency of CMT field and laboratory staff.

  • Conduct and oversee field and laboratory testing of construction materials in accordance with project specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with AASHTO ASTM safety environmental accreditation calibration and quality requirements.

  • Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs testing protocols reports inspections and process improvements.

  • Supervise train and evaluate staff; collaborate with the Austin GM; and support backlog growth and continuity of work.

Youll thrive here if you

  • 5 years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience.

  • Experience in CMT cost estimating and/or project management.

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of construction plans specifications and testing standards.

  • Experience managing accredited laboratory operations inspections reporting and contract administration.

  • Knowledge of AASHTO and ASTM procedures and construction materials testing (concrete soils base asphalt).

  • Ability to develop SOPs and quality control systems.

  • Strong written verbal interpersonal and leadership skills; organized self-motivated and results-driven.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced high-stress environments; strong safety focus; office and field work; lift up to 50 lbs; valid U.S. Drivers License.

  • Preferred certifications: ACI ASTM ICC Nuclear Density Gauge and applicable state certifications.
