Job Summary
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred. The candidate should possess good communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have experience working with and/or teaching elementary-aged students; an understanding of the needs of students at this age; a collaborative work ethic; training/experience in reading and writing instruction; experience in mathematics instruction; interest in science content and pedagogy; a commitment to inclusive pedagogy; and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom. The candidate should be comfortable with both in-person and online pedagogy and teaching platforms.
License:
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license as an Elementary Educator (K-6) is preferred.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- develop standards-based curriculum for grades K 1and 2 that align with ELA/Math/Sci standards and learning materials that are culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate.
- Identify curriculum materials for the program coordinate development of materials kits and delivery to program sites.
- develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- outline a process for introducing students in grades K-2 to a classroom and school community (introducing students to the daily schedule and routines and activities (e.g. morning circle month/day/year transitioning from one activity to the next) sitting at a desk and following instruction walking in a single line through the hallway eating in the cafeteria whole body listening talking one at a time in class).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
-Knowledge of culturally responsive practices
-Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts. Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
