Im currently working with a well-established global automotive supplier that is looking to add a Project Engineer to their Program Management team in Troy MI. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in automotive development and project coordination to take ownership of customer-driven projects from concept through production.
The Role
As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for leading the execution of customer-focused development projects for decorative automotive components. You will coordinate activities between engineering teams customers and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time within budget and in line with strict automotive quality standards.
Youll play a key role from technical quotation and development through prototype and serial production ensuring technical requirements are met and projects remain on schedule.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate engineering projects from quotation phase through serial production and post-launch changes

Ensure project schedules milestones and deliverables are maintained

Act as the central technical interface between the customer internal teams and subcontractors

Prepare and maintain project plans development documentation and part histories

Support the preparation of technical quotations and feasibility assessments

Coordinate prototype builds with internal prototype teams and suppliers
-
Monitor project budgets including tooling and part costs
-
Organize and lead project meetings and technical discussions
-
Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and internal management systems

Work closely with CAD quality and production teams to deliver production-ready components

Provide technical support to customer teams and assist with problem-solving during development
Requirements
-
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Engineering or similar
-
35 years of experience in automotive engineering development or project engineering
-
Strong understanding of automotive parts development finishing techniques and production processes
-
Experience managing technical projects and coordinating cross-functional teams
-
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
-
Strong analytical communication and project management skills

Customer-focused mindset with strong organizational abilities
-
Fluent English (C2 level)
