DescriptionCharlotte Latin School is seeking an Upper School Physics teacher for a full-time 10-month position beginning August 2026.This role is an integral part of Latins Upper School faculty. Teachers have the freedom to teach unique individualized science courses at the Advanced Placement honors standard and elective levels. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities advising and/or coaching.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach 4 sections of Conceptual Physics (or other sciences)
- Partner with colleagues to create and update course curriculum
- Assess students academic performance including regular grading
- Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours before and after school
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within field
- Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities advising and/or coaching.
Supervisory Responsibilities
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Minimum of a bachelors degree; masters or doctoral degree in physics or associated area highly preferred
- Experience teaching physics is required
- Experience teaching biologychemistry or other science courses is preferred
- Experience teaching a wide variety of course levels is preferred
- Experience teaching in an independent school is preferred

- Intermittently stand stoop bend twist crouch kneel crawl walk climb stairs step stools and ladders operate foot and hand controls squeeze and reach above shoulders.
- Exposure to dust chemicals fumes flammables grease dirt stacked materials electrical equipment machinery low to medium noise levels and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
- Long or odd hours as needed.
