About Position
As a Lead Engineer Control System you will be responsible for new product introduction (NPI) execution activities on Control System design and working for Hydro Control System CoE (Center of Excellency)
You will work autonomously and deliver as directed and under supervision of the principal engineer for the NPI project or by the Control System Engineering Manager.
You will perform hardware and software design of the various hydro Control system requirements for upcoming technology to meet market requirements.

Job Description

PLC/SCADA Architecture & Development

Design and develop modular scalable PLC architectures using Rockwell Automation platforms.

Develop and maintain control logic using Studio 5000 for ControlLogix CompactLogix controllers.

Create reusable code libraries AOIs (AddOn Instructions) and standardized control templates.

Define PLC programming standards naming conventions and versioning strategies.

Design and develop scalable SCADA architectures using Rockwell Automation platforms.

Configure and customize FactoryTalk View SE FactoryTalk Linx FT AE and related services.

Develop reusable SCADA templates standards and object libraries for R&D and product teams.

Evaluate new Rockwell technologies firmware and software releases for applicability in future solutions.

R&D Innovation & Prototyping

Build proofofconcept (PoC) PLC applications to evaluate new control strategies firmware features and hardware platforms.

Build proofofconcept (PoC) and prototype SCADA applications to evaluate new features and architectures.

Evaluate new Rockwell Automation releases and thirdparty technologies for R&D applicability.

Collaborate with control system product leader and system architects on control platform roadmaps.

System Integration & Simulation

Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs (ControlLogix CompactLogix) historians Integrate PLC logic with SCADA/HMI historians simulators and test benches.

Develop simulation environments (emulators soft controllers hardwareintheloop).

Interface PLC systems with VFDs MCCs protection relays and smart instrumentation.

Industrial communication protocols prevailing in the industry (Modbus IEC61850 IEC60870-104 DNP 3 OPC UA etc.) and EtherNet/IP-based communications.

Testing Validation & Quality

Develop test plans test cases and automated testing strategies for PLC/ SCADA applications.

Perform functional performance and robustness testing in lab environments.

Support safety and reliability validation including failure mode analysis.

Perform performance reliability and cybersecurity testing in lab environments.

Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable industry norms.

Cybersecurity & Reliability

Incorporate cybersecurity best practices into PLC design (user roles network segmentation secure protocols).

Support compliance with IEC 62443 and related industrial cybersecurity standards.

Design for high availability redundancy and maintainability.

Design SCADA systems with defenceindepth cybersecurity principles.

Implement user access control network segmentation and secure communications.

Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to assess vulnerabilities and mitigations.

Ensure high availability redundancy and disaster recovery strategies.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

Produce control narratives functional specifications and R&D technical documentation.

Document reusable design patterns lessons learned and reference architectures.

Produce architecture documents design specifications and R&D technical reports.

Personal responsibilities

Deliver trainings programs to internal and external customers.

Work on quality & productivity improvement and cost-out actions.

Perform interface engineering Site Support.

Collaborate with global teams on NPI activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Control from accredited college or university

  • 8 to 14 years of Controls Engineering experience with at least 5 years relevant experience in Rockwell PLC hardware design and software programming/design.

  • Should be aware of applicable standards and best practices in DCS design including HW design SW logic and User interface (HMI) design control cubicle design and cybersecurity solutions.

  • Should be aware global Cybersecurity standards such as IEC62443 & NERC-CIP.

  • Tools Expertise Rockwell Automation/ Mark VIe/Siemens/ABB/Emerson etc. based Control System tools (RS Logix Studio 5000 FT View Control ST Cimplicity Workstation ST SCALA SICAM)

  • Preferred industry experience Hydro Power Large EPC Oil & Gas.

  • Good command over written and spoken English is mandatory for global stakeholder and customer management.

  • Able to manage and resolve conflicts in a fast-paced project execution environment. Clearly communicate and listen. Guide and motivate fellow team members.

    Working experience on Rockwell Automation based Control System is preferred however similar experience on other reputed DCS systems like Siemens ABB Emerson etc. is acceptable.

    Candidates with exposure in Cybersecurity domain will be an advantage.

    Knowledge of Microsoft server (System administrator) and VMware virtualization will have added advantages.

    Willing to travel with in India and abroad for shorter and longer duration.
