About the Role

The Education Officer (EAL) plays a key role in supporting DOBCELs mission to pursue fullness of life for all aligned with the DOBCEL Strategy 2035.

Working collaboratively with schools the Learning and Teaching Team and the Leader: Learning and Teaching this part-time position focuses on improving learning outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse students.

The role supports schools to strengthen inclusive practices build teacher capability and enhance educational opportunities for all learners. Given its part-time nature the role offers flexibility and may be combined with an in-school teaching position.

What Youll Do

  • Support school-based EAL leaders to meet the language and learning needs of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

  • Partner with schools and colleagues to deliver on school improvement goals and high-quality learning outcomes.

  • Promote evidence-informed inclusive whole-school practices that recognise and celebrate diversity.

  • Provide advice and support on educational planning and decision-making using evidence-based approaches.

  • Assist schools with goal-setting and accountability processes for New Arrival and Refugee funding.

  • Strengthen connections between schools local agencies and community organisations that support settlement and inclusion.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Curriculum (EAL) and evidence-based pedagogy.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships and work in partnership.

  • Solution-focused professional and confidential approach to your work.

  • Relevant academic qualifications and current VIT registration.

  • Current Victorian or National Police Check and Victorian Drivers Licence.
