Barber Ship Management is a technical ship management company located in Hamburg Germany owned by Wilhelmsen Ship Management and MPC Capital. Our focus is on oil product chemical and gas tankers. Our vision is to become the preferred ship manager while maintaining the highest standard of customer satisfaction and to deliver sustained growth.
We are looking for a Vessel Manager to join our team of Barber Ship Management in Hamburg. As a Vessel Manager you are responsible for the technical ship management of a part of our fleet.
Your duties include:
- Being responsible for the safe efficient and environmental conscious operation of the vessels assigned
- Ensuring that the vessels assigned are in compliance with all relevant national and international rules regulations and standards including but not limited to the ISM code the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standard flag state port state and the industrys standards
- Acting as a member of the Emergency Response Team
- Providing support to the vessels on technical operation matters as required and ensuring the assigned vessels are visited two times per year for vessel manager inspection including report
- Providing proper vessel budget planning allocating and monitoring purchases within approved budgets and proceeding with proper follow-up and commenting on potential deviations
- Contributing to incident / accident investigation
- Providing input to Experience Feedback Safety Bulletins Memo from Manager and supporting the continuous development of the WSM Shipboard Safety Management System (SSMM)
- Participating in evaluation of Shipboard management Systems Review
Your profile:
- Technical/maritime qualifications with seagoing experience in senior position preferably on oil-/chemical tanker vessels or alternatively maritime degree with management experience as a Vessel Manager of oil-/chemical tanker vessels
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to provide guidance to assigned support functions
- Good written and verbal communication in English
- Determination to strive for excellence
