TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

BCIT Nephrology Program Education:
Tentative Education date ranges to be confirmed by BCIT:

Pre-req: April 1-May 15 2026-
CTF: May 19-June 19 2026-
Preceptorship: June 22-July 3 2026
If the applicant does not possess the required qualifications PHC will fund Post-Basic Education. Funding will consist of 100% for tuition and books; and wages at rate of 100% of posted FTE. The length of the Post-Basic Education is approximate. Eligibility for Post-Basic Education is restricted to applicant(s) with a minimum of 1-2 year medical/surgical experience (2 years preferred) and who have not received Post-Basic Education Funding from PHC for the past 2 years. Applicant must successfully complete the Post-Basic Education prior to working in the Department.

Successful completion of the course will go into a 0.92 FTE regular position at qathet Community Dialysis Unit (CDU) Powell River. Operational hours are 07.00-19.00 every Monday Wednesday Friday.

Job Summary

Come work as a Registered Nurse in Dialysis at the qathet Community Dialysis Unit in Powell River!

qathet Community Dialysis Unit provides dialysis to patients in the qathet community and surrounding areas to help patients receive this life-saving procedure closer to home.As an HD Nurse youll be at the forefront of patient care working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess patients physical social spiritual and psychological needs
  • Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families
  • Make referrals to resources as needed
  • Support fellow healthcare professionals
  • Operate within the framework of Providence Health Cares mission vision and values

Please note this is not a Vancouver Coastal Health internal competition.

Education component varies between BCIT and St Pauls Hospital sites. Successful completion of the course will go into a 0.92 FTE regular position at qathet Community Dialysis Unit (CDU) Powell River. Operational hours are 07.00-19.00 every Monday Wednesday Friday.

Qualifications

Education

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
