The Export Compliance Team Lead position requires an experienced Compliance professional who focuses on ensuring adherence with company policy and procedures as they relate to International Trade (exports sanctions) and Antiboycott Laws. The selected individual will be expected to effectively interpret clearly communicate guide and where appropriate influence the business on a wide variety of transactions or dealings that trigger international trade or antiboycott compliance requirements. The position will be expected to provide oversight and guidance to the Export Compliance Team as they engage with the business and other compliance professionals to ensure that appropriate processes for international trade and antiboycott are implemented. The position is expected to have an in-depth awareness of Trade Compliance responsibilities and procedures as well as a high-level understanding of activities that may be impacted by international trade and antiboycott considerations.

The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills analytical capabilities supervisory experience good judgment in identifying issues and elevating to manager and/or counsel as may be necessary a willingness to learn new compliance procedures and the ability to be a leader in advocating for trade compliance.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises and provides work direction to 7-9 direct reports.
  • Organizes initial on boarding of new hires when applicable. Develops and maintains the trade compliance on-boarding program.
  • In collaboration with the Compliance Manager provides direction on performance goals for the team.
  • Develops and prepares performance metrics reports to monitor the effectiveness of the export compliance related activities.
  • Builds organizational capability and subject matter awareness amongst export compliance analysts and stakeholders alike through delivery of tailored compliance training and ad hoc guidance and collaboration with Compliance Manager prepares an annual education plan for the export Compliance Analysts.
  • Functions as a subject matter expert advising stakeholders to ensure business processes meet policy and procedural expectations.
  • Provides guidance to and oversight for Iranian Transactions and Antiboycott requests.
  • Gathers responses and submits Iranian Transactions reports to Managing Counsel on a timely basis. Ensures the timely preparation of draft Antiboycott reports for Trade Compliance Counsel.
  • Reviews and maintains updates to SharePoint sites toolbox desk guides and other procedural documents.
  • Assists the Compliance Analysts with the coordination of Risk Assessments for international trade and antiboycott.
  • Provides timely well-considered and accurate guidance to the business in the application of compliance requirements to real-time business transactions and activities.
  • Within the scope of special delegated authority provides clearance for Sanctioned Party Screening escalations and hits resulting from continuous monitoring.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Business Management or Law
  • Sound oral and written English communication skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective Internet and research skills
  • Sound critical thinking analytical problem solving and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to be a self-starter
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Trade Compliance or role in a similar capacity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge in anti-corruption anti-bribery anti-money laundering
  • Experience in the energy oil services global supplier and / or banking industry
