POSITION OVERVIEW
Mary Hall Freedom Village Inc. empowers women children veterans and families to end the cycle of homelessness addiction and poverty. Headquartered in Sandy Springs GA with seven facilities across metro Atlanta MHFV has been transforming lives for nearly three decades. The Property Assistant supports the Housing and Operations teams to ensure that all Mary Hall Freedom Village units are safe clean functional and properly maintained. This role promotes housing stability by ensuring living environments remain compliant with safety standards and are prepared for current and incoming participants. Responsibilities include inspections minor troubleshooting documentation and coordination of maintenance needs.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Responsibilities
- Make daily rounds and apartment inspections to ensure units are safe clean and free of hazards; document findings and report concerns.
- Retrieve maintenance requests from participants; verify concerns and submit work orders into Freedom In Knowing.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and maintenance activity.
- Check units for immediate safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate bed tracking in the Kipu system.
- Communicate urgent maintenance or safety issues to appropriate staff and complete incident reports when required.
- Review previous shifts housing report to address unresolved matters.
Weekly Responsibilities
- Walk units to assess cleanliness and general upkeep; advise participants of deficiencies and ensure corrections are made.
- Inspect light fixtures refrigerator stove bathroom fixtures and furnishings; replace minor items as needed.
- Follow up with the Operations team regarding maintenance request status.
- Communicate with the Connections team regarding upcoming admissions to ensure proper bed type and unit setup based on family composition.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Check smoke detectors for presence and proper function; replace batteries as needed.
- Inspect HVAC air filters and replace as necessary.
- Check fire extinguishers for proper placement and initial tags.
- Inspect first aid kits for completeness and expiration.
- Participate in health and safety meetings and assist with fire drills.
- Attend one weekly Operations team meeting.
Additional Duties
- Ensure new unit turnovers are clean safe and ready for occupancy.
- Assist with coordination of vendor or contracted maintenance services.
- Transport supplies or equipment between facilities as needed.
- Use basic tools such as a screwdriver or power drill.
- Troubleshoot minor plumbing issues (e.g. clogged toilets or sinks).
- Support emergency response procedures in collaboration with leadership.
