Position Title: Drama Director

Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Principal/Principal

POSITION SUMMARY
The job of Drama Director is to support and oversee the Forest Grove High School Theatre Department. The District believes that extra-curricular activities and the area of performing arts are an integral part of school life. All students regardless of their ability should take part if possible to be able to grow physically intellectually and socially through participation. The drama director will organize and conduct thetheatre programs to meet the needs of the school district and their participants.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exhibit exceptional integrity and character at all times
  • Act as a positive role model in the school and community
  • Cultivate a program culture that demands respect between participants
  • Recruit students within the school to participate in the program
  • Collaborate with and follow direction of the Administration
  • Organize the specific theatre program so that it is consistent with the District and. building goals and objectives for students/performers
  • Communicate with participants in a manner that models respect.
  • Support the academic achievement of student performers
  • Overseeother staff that contribute in the theatre program
  • Demonstrate proper active supervision during all scheduled activities of student-performersincluding but not limited to performances practice auditions and after events.
  • Be accountable for expenditures and fund-raising in accordance with established
    District procedures and written approval of the admininstration.
  • Follow current District procedures for the handling of program finances
  • Be responsible for the care distribution and collection of District equipment and supplies
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students parents and assist theatre staffthroughout the program
  • Assume responsibility for the conduct and performance of program participants
  • Cooperate and collaborate withall staff responsible for facilities.
  • Develop articulate and implement a vision for the theatre program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of thetheatre
  • Ability and willingness to effectively communicate in verbal and written modes with
    student performers parents assistants and other school staff
  • Ability and willingness to perform responsibilities in accordance with school and District procedures and policies
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students staff or District patrons
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others and collaborate solutions to concerns
  • Successfully pass criminal background check
