Description
The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the familys home or community. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. ChildServes respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children schedule appointments for themselves or simply take time to recharge.
Schedule
Primarily afternoons evenings and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.
Located in Ames Huxley or Slater
How Youll Make an Impact
Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community
Interact with the child and participate in fun activities
Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
Possible skills used: medication administration g-tube nutrition seizure management trach cares etc.
What Youll Need
Current valid license as a RN or LPN in Iowa.
Valid drivers license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs be mobile within the clinic areas and frequently bend lift reach and stand.
Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading writing and speaking the English language.
