Ravenscroft School seeks a dynamic and student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our Lower and Middle School community. This educator will play an essential role in advancing the Schools commitment to comprehensive student wellness while fostering a culture of inclusion collaboration and joyful engagement in physical activity.
Ravenscroft is an all-gender independent day school serving approximately 1205 students in grades preschool through 12. We are committed to nurturing each students individual potential and cultivating a diverse equitable and inclusive community. The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy cultural competence and a strong understanding of teaching physical education to Lower and Middle School students.
The Physical Education Teacher will prioritize authentic relationship-building with students colleagues and families; collaborate closely with the Associate Head of School for Student Affairs and Physical Education Department Chairs; and model curiosity professionalism and a growth mindset.

What Youll Do
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach Physical Education in the Lower School and Middle School divisions
- Design and implement engaging lessons that meet the needs of multiple skill levels and diverse learners
- Support a comprehensive physical education and wellness program
- Incorporate social-emotional learning and support the Schools Lead From Here curriculum
Collaboration & Student Support
- Work cooperatively with Health and Physical Education faculty in planning and program development
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators regarding students social emotional and physical development
- Establish and maintain high standards for supervision and student engagement
Athletics & Community Engagement
- Coach in at least two athletic seasons with strong preference for varsity-level coaching
- Build meaningful relationships with students families and colleagues
- Demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community
Professional Expectations
- Exercise sound judgment and uphold faculty conduct standards
- Demonstrate flexibility in working across multiple settings and shared facilities
- Model professionalism integrity and commitment to student wellness

Qualifications
Required:
- Degree in Physical Education and/or Health
- Physical Education teaching experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective technology skills including experience with learning management systems such as Canvas and Veracross
- CPR certification and First Aid training
- Commitment to the mission of Ravenscroft School
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position requires active participation in physical activity including demonstrating exercises and remaining on ones feet for extended periods. The role involves supervising students in gymnasium and outdoor settings and coaching athletics across multiple seasons.
