Job Summary

Jesuit Dallas Grade Level Counselor

Jesuit Dallas is seeking a supportive and professional guidance counselor to foster the academic spiritual social/emotional and psychological formation of our students. Successful candidates will possess a passion for forming adolescents engaging in life-long learning and collaborating with peers in the pursuit of the Schools mission. Candidates must enjoy working with adolescent males and their families.

Responsibilities

Form and educate young men to be open to growth intellectually competent loving religious committed to working for justice and physically fit.
Develop organize and oversee the implementation of grade level advisories and guidance curriculum.
Collaborate with faculty staff coaches and families in all areas of student formation including academic progress.
Work withcollege counselors to assist students in the college admissions process includingrecommendation letter writing.
Generate goal-setting problem-solving and time-management tools for students and their families.
Support students who are experiencing mental health issues behavioral problems social challenges or at-risk behaviors and make appropriate referrals.
Participate in all departmental and school-wide faculty formation.
Engage in on-going professional development.
Participate in student-centered co-curricular extra-curricular service and/or retreat opportunities.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in School Counseling or a related field required.
Demonstration of a high degree of professionalism confidentiality and ethical decision making.
Confidence in presenting to/facilitating large and small groups of adolescents and/or adults.
Three or more years experience as a high school counselor preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges deadlines and a diverse array of contacts.
Full time position that requires occasionalevening and weekend hours.
Active position that requires regular movement around campus.
May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
