Job Summary

Jesuit Dallas Grade Level Counselor

Jesuit Dallas is seeking a supportive and professional guidance counselor to foster the academic spiritual social/emotional and psychological formation of our students. Successful candidates will possess a passion for forming adolescents engaging in life-long learning and collaborating with peers in the pursuit of the Schools mission. Candidates must enjoy working with adolescent males and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Form and educate young men to be open to growth intellectually competent loving religious committed to working for justice and physically fit.
  • Develop organize and oversee the implementation of grade level advisories and guidance curriculum.
  • Collaborate with faculty staff coaches and families in all areas of student formation including academic progress.
  • Work withcollege counselors to assist students in the college admissions process includingrecommendation letter writing.
  • Generate goal-setting problem-solving and time-management tools for students and their families.
  • Support students who are experiencing mental health issues behavioral problems social challenges or at-risk behaviors and make appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in all departmental and school-wide faculty formation.
  • Engage in on-going professional development.
  • Participate in student-centered co-curricular extra-curricular service and/or retreat opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in School Counseling or a related field required.
  • Demonstration of a high degree of professionalism confidentiality and ethical decision making.
  • Confidence in presenting to/facilitating large and small groups of adolescents and/or adults.
  • Three or more years experience as a high school counselor preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges deadlines and a diverse array of contacts.
  • Full time position that requires occasionalevening and weekend hours.
  • Active position that requires regular movement around campus.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
