Job Summary
Donor Services Specialists support CCBCs mission by providing safe high-quality donor experiences through screening blood collection donor education and operational support in both our donor centers and mobile operations.
FLSA: Non-exempt
Department: Donor Services
Reports to: Operations Manager
Workdays/Hours: Variable shifts including weekends and some holidays (on a rotating basis)
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
- Support operations at both fixed donor centers and mobile blood drives as scheduled.
- All team members are responsible for greeting and registering donors contributing to a welcoming respectful and compassionate experience from check-in through post-donation while maintaining professional ethical and donor-centered interactions.
- Clearly explain donation processes and educate donors on available donation types guiding eligible donors toward procedures including automated collections that best support patient care and hospital blood product needs.
- Support donor retention through future appointment scheduling and ongoing donor engagement aligned with eligibility and comfort.
- Maintain a calm organized and team-oriented environment actively assisting coworkers as needed to ensure safe and efficient donor flow.
- Trained and competent to perform donor eligibility screening and monitoring of donor condition before during and after donation in accordance with medical safety and regulatory standards.
- Always protect donor confidentiality and safeguard health information.
- Verify donor identity and ensure accurate labeling documentation and handling of blood products to maintain traceability and patient safety.
- Prepare clean and maintain equipment and donor areas while maintaining a safe compliant work environment at fixed sites and mobile drives.
- Follow all SOPs COPs safety guidelines quality systems and regulatory requirements governing blood collection and donor care. Participate in required training and competency assessments.
- Show flexibility in assignments including travel to mobile drives or other locations as needed.
- Support CCBCs mission core values and workplace culture while maintaining reliable attendance and compliance with California meal and rest period requirements.
- Employees may need to drive CCBC Vehicles and complete driver training on non-CDL vehicles.
- Employees may be eligible to drive CDL vehicles based on additional training.
- Trained and competent in whole blood phlebotomy.

Qualifications:
Meets all criteria for DSI DSII and DSIII positions.
Must possess proven phlebotomy competency.
Demonstrated leadership potential.
Attention to detail and maintain quality outcomes.
Skills:
Basic computer experience is required.
Expert-level venipuncture
Sounds knowledge of SOPs and COPs
Leadership training and mentoring skills
Ability to manage workflow schedules and staff performance
Effective communication skills
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- One year of working in a customer service position preferred
- Certification preferred
- Basic CPR certification preferred
Skills:
- Basic computer experience is required.
- No background in phlebotomy required
- Effective communication skills and customer interaction skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
- Attention to detail and maintaining quality outcomes
