The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization by ensuring accurate financial records timely reporting and compliance with accounting standards. This role works closely with senior accounting team members and cross-functional partners to support month-end close reconciliations and financial analysis while developing strong technical accounting skills.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements
- Support analysis of financial results trends and variances under the guidance of senior accounting staff
- Provide data and support for budgeting and forecasting activities
General Ledger & Close
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies
- Support month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries and accruals
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and internal policies
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to requests
- Support documentation of accounting processes and controls
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to support accurate reporting
- Assist with system testing data validation and reporting enhancements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with internal departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies
- Provide accounting support and respond to routine financial inquiries
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- 14 years of accounting or related finance experience
- CPA eligible or working toward certification preferred
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
