We are seeking a Tax Accountant with experience in payroll compliance and financial reporting to support a municipal project focused on overtime tracking under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). This role will work cross-functionally with Payroll and IT to develop implement and maintain a tracking system ensuring accurate reporting and full compliance with state and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage overtime tracking and reporting in compliance with OBBBA requirements
Perform payroll reconciliation for Police and Fire department overtime
Collaborate with IT to design and implement tracking systems and reporting tools
Analyze payroll and overtime data by employee and by week
Conduct audits of financial records to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Maintain and update reporting templates for ongoing use
Ensure compliance with municipal state and tax accounting standards
Support system implementation and project launch activities
Provide reporting and insights to leadership and stakeholders
Maintain accurate records using payroll systems Excel and financial databases
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Payroll IT Finance)
Handle confidential financial and employee data with discretion
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
5 years of experience in accounting payroll or financial reporting
Knowledge of payroll processes and compliance regulations
Familiarity with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA)
Experience with payroll systems data analysis and reporting tools
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis reporting)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data
Ability to manage deadlines and high-priority projects
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in municipal accounting or public sector finance
Background supporting Police Fire or government departments
Experience implementing payroll or tracking systems
Knowledge of compliance auditing and financial controls
Experience working with IT on system integrations
Work Schedule & Additional Information
Part-time: 21 hours per week (approx. 7 hours/day)
Mandatory onsite work on Mondays; additional onsite days may be required
Increased hours may be needed during project launch and go-live phases
