The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective efficient economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the states population that have traditionally been underserved. The agencys mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies. The Secretarys Office is comprised of the Secretary Chief Deputy Deputy Secretaries and senior leadership support staff for the agency
