About the Role
We are seeking a CAD Technician I to support a growing gas engineering team based in Minneapolis. This role focuses on producing detailed CAD designs for predominantly above ground gas piping projects supporting residential apartments commercial customers gas meter sets and infrastructure along highways and roadways.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior level candidate (0 2 years experience) who is eager to grow within a collaborative engineering environment. The team is currently small making teamwork reliability and a positive attitude critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using AutoCAD / Autodesk
- Prepare architectural piping and structural drawings at a highly detailed localized level
- Coordinate with engineers and other stakeholders to resolve design issues
- Draw rough and final scale plans based on sketches specifications and calculations
- Assist with layout of foundations buildings piping systems and public works projects
- Compile and assemble design data including job site measurements when needed
- Calculate quantities weights volumes and material requirements
- Support multidisciplinary coordination (structural electrical mechanical)
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Architectural Design Drafting or related field (preferred)
- 0 2 years of CAD drafting experience
- Hands on experience with AutoCAD
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow engineering standards
- Ability to work effectively in a small team oriented environment
- Solid communication and problem solving skills
Nice to Have
- Exposure to gas piping utility or civil infrastructure projects
- Experience with above ground piping or commercial/residential utility layouts
