Description
The Facilities Mechanical Systems Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance department. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Facilities this individual will lead a team of technicians and external contractors to ensure the safe efficient and reliable operation of all building systems. The primary focus of this role is on skilled trades including electrical plumbing HVAC and general building maintenance. The ideal candidate is a working manager who possesses strong technical expertise and the ability to train and mentor staff.
Position Responsibilities:
I. Operational Safety and Risk Mitigation: Proactively managing building systems addressing hazards and maintaining infrastructure integrity to protect the students employees and community at large.
- HVAC Systems: Oversee the operation maintenance and repair of heating ventilation and air conditioning systems. Petiorm diagnostics and troubleshooting on malfunctioning units.
- Electrical & Plumbing: Manage and petiorm repairs on electrical systems (lighting ballasts outlets switches) and plumbing systems (leaks clogs fixture replacements piping).
- General Maintenance: Supervise and assist with carpentry painting drywall repair flooring and lock/hardware issues.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Develop and execute a robust PM schedule for all building systems to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
II. Leadership and Administration: Advance operational excellence through strong leadership and sound administrative management.
- Team Supervision: Direct daily workflows for maintenance staff assigning work orders based on priority and skill level. Provide technical training and peformance feedback.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale projects. Review quotes and ensure work meets quality standards and code requirements.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with local building codes OSHA regulations and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections repairs and warranties.
- Inventory Control: Manage inventory of tools spare parts and supplies ensuring critical items are in stock while maintaining budget discipline.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven expertise in electrical plumbing and general construction trades.
Certifications & Licenses
- HVAC Certification: EPA Universal Certification is highly preferred or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment as a condition of continued employment.
- Valid Missouri Class E Drivers License required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders.
- Excellent communication skills to interface with the Senior Director of Facilities staff and vendors.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand walk climb ladders bend kneel and crawl for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
