Job Summary:The Benefits Specialist II serves as the subject matter expert for benefit programs and associated policies and procedures. Provide guidance and training to entry-level specialists. Provides assistance to employees about all aspects of benefit plans and enrollment. Acts as a liaison with vendors on special projects.
Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree and two (2) years of benefits experience; OR masters degree and some benefits experience.
Skills and Knowledge:Excellent customer service skills. Effective organizational analytical multitasking and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with department representatives and employees at all levels. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations. Familiarity with benefits terminology including HIPAA FMLA COBRA ADA and ACA as well as recent benefits legislation and trends. Must stay current on all federal state and local laws governing employee benefits. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Human Resources or recognized certification in the area of Benefits. Experience in higher education.
