Division/Site Specific Information:

Thermo Fisher Scientifics oral solid dose (OSD) site in Cincinnati Ohio supported by over 800 employees offers various drug development and commercial manufacturing services. These services include controlled and sustained release solid oral dosage forms osmotic release dosage forms (laser drilling) liquid fill hard capsules controlled substances manufacturing and abuse-deterrent dosage forms.

By championing best-in-class procurement practices and inventory control strategies you will play a critical role in supporting new product development minimizing waste improving supplier performance and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain. Your contributions will help ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality while enabling our customers to solve some of the worlds toughest challenges.

Day in the Life:

  • Strategically manage assigned spend while ensuring compliance with legal quality delivery and brand standards.

  • Champion and apply standard procurement practices and strategic sourcing principles.

  • Manage Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) activities including placing orders rescheduling and expediting to optimize cost quantity and delivery performance.

  • Support new product development initiatives through proactive sourcing and purchasing engagement.

  • Review track and manage engineering change orders; adjust purchase orders and inventory levels to minimize scrap and production downtime.

  • Coordinate outsourced activities including sourcing vendor management contract support and monitoring purchasing inputs against order status.

  • Maintain ERP purchasing and item master data integrity ensuring accurate parameters and revision levels.

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with the Accounts Payable team.

  • Submit and manage claims with carriers for damaged incoming shipments.

  • Analyze demand forecasts inventory levels and supplier capabilities to develop and implement inventory reduction strategies aligned to targeted levels.

  • Proactively prevent excess and obsolete inventory; optimize safety stock and monitor Slow Moving and Obsolete (SLOB) inventory.

  • Monitor supplier cost quality delivery and performance metrics; drive continuous improvement and corrective actions.

  • Support obsolescence management initiatives through supplier engagement reporting and cross-functional participation.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate required.

  • College Diploma in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.

  • Equivalent combinations of education training and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing and inventory management experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

  • Experience working within ERP systems (Purchasing and Inventory Management modules) in a manufacturing setting.

  • Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) designation preferred.

  • Experience supporting cost tracking budgeting and project timelines.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of supply chain planning processes purchasing and inventory management.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency including Excel (VLOOKUP Pivot Tables required).

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience performing spreadsheet analyses and cost tracking.

  • Effective negotiation and supplier management skills.

Abilities

  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills.

  • Ability to rapidly comprehend new information and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to take independent action and assume ownership of processes.

  • Results-oriented and metrics-driven with a proactive root-cause and continuous improvement mindset.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may require periodic presence on the production floor. Standard office work involving extended computer use is required.
