Job Summary

The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West Great South Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including GP Clinics Primary Health Care Counselling community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

SWAMS is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the Communications Coordinator you will lead and coordinate the delivery of all SWAMS communications and public relations activities. This includes strategic planning social media website and digital platforms marketing materials and communication support for organisational projects.

You will ensure bestpractice standards across all communications drive performance outcomes and meet reporting requirements in line with the SWAMS strategic this role you will:

  • Lead the Communications Team and implement communication strategies aligned with SWAMS strategic direction.
  • Coordinate all communication activities across marketing promotional materials social media website and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to develop tailored communication materials and campaigns.
  • Provide required reporting monitor team performance and support continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure all communications are culturally appropriate professionally delivered and compliant with SWAMS policies and legislation.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in communications or a related field.
  • Experience in communications journalism marketing or public relations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies across multiple channels.
  • Minimum 3 years experience supervising or managing a diverse team.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Understanding of the health issues impacting Aboriginal people.
