Position Description

The coordinator is responsible for overseeing volunteer programs facilitating student engagement in community service activities. This position aims to provide students with opportunities to apply learning in real-world settings while fostering a culture of service. The coordinator also oversees the daily operations of The Den at the Henderson Campus including oversight of student workers and campus-based engagement programs.

Overseeing daily operations of The Den Henderson this includes:

  • Hiring and overseeing student staff developing planning and executing events out of the center.

  • Managing the budget and serving as a resource to the campus community that reserves the center for various programs.

  • Coordinating volunteer opportunities for CSN students and staff to connect with the Vegas Valley community.

  • Foster partnerships with organizations that may serve as sites for service-learning experiences and volunteer opportunities with assistance from the Director.

  • Develop and launch the True-Blue Service initiative that will set community wide service goals for CSN.

  • Track service hours from members of the CSN community and help brand CSN has an organization that gives back to the community.

  • Administrative duties meetings P-card reconciliation etc.

  • As assigned by the supervisory chain of command participate in and/or complete special projects.

  • Participate in department and campus-wide professional development programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 years of related or comparable professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 years of professional related experience.

  • 1 year of experience coordinating volunteer programs or student engagement initiatives in a higher education or community service setting.

  • Experience in tracking and reporting data including volunteer hours service-learning outcomes and event feedback.

  • Experience in event planning program coordination or community outreach is preferred.

  • Prior experience working in student services student development or working with diverse student populations is highly desired.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to engage and collaborate with students faculty staff and community partners.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to actively participate in volunteer and service-learning opportunities.

  • Proven ability to develop implement and assess programs and events.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word Access Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.

  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.
